Summer fun!

53 Bluebonnet Lane

Just for a change of pace I thought I would post a video of my grandbabies having fun in our pool last summer. I’m in the process of opening the pool for this summer & wow what a job. The pool was left uncovered all winter & let me tell you it is major brown. This is a 26′ x 52″ pool made by Coleman. I usually have an Intex pool, but this last summer I upgraded to a bigger size & I got a good deal on the Coleman pool. Both are pretty much interchangeable in parts. It just amazes me how a pool can be just yucky brown and with a few chemicals and a little time turn it crystal blue. I use a product called Green to Blue by HTH.

These Ultra frame pools are considered by some to be cheap and most people take theirs down…

I am in the process of making this mini album and wanted to share the beautiful paper line I will be using to make it. It is gorgeous paper and I very much love working with it! I’m not sure how long it will take until completion but I will keep all posted when it is finished. Here are the paper pads, chipboard pieces, stickers…ect. that I will be using to construct this album.

12×12 paper pad.

8×8 paper pad.

Card stock stickers.

I am also using the Fairy dust ephemera cards, chipboard elements and the 12×12 solids and patterns stack which is very hard to find now. I bought mine months ago.

Mixed Media art….What is it?

53 Bluebonnet Lane

I’m relatively new to the whole mixed media art world. Mainly all I’ve done is scrapbooking, which is an art all in itself. When I was introduced to mixed media art a whole new world was opened up for me, one that I dearly love. It introduced a freedom of expression that I had never experienced before. Scrapbooking, which is still my first love, is a very precise art. Precise cuts, precise matting, precise everything. Mixed media art on the other hand is more relaxed. To me it’s more like play, I can just jump in & let my imagination go and create. If I make a mistake I can just add a little paint or a little water and change the whole look of the project. I like the fact that what starts out looking like a complete mess usually turns out looking really great in the end.

Escape 11×14 mixed media canvas

53 Bluebonnet Lane

My second attempt at mixed media art didn’t quite turn out like I intended. I meant for it to be a nice serene beach scene but it turned out to be a stormy scene instead. In some ways I like this one better with the storm clouds. The beach still looks serene even with the storm clouds looming. No metals in this one, just lots of chipboard, homemade glimmer spray and texture paste, with a final dry brush of gesso to tone down the color.

Free to Fly mixed media canvas

53 Bluebonnet Lane

This 8 x 10 mixed media art was created using a canvas panel, plenty of texture, my home made glimmer ink spray, archival inks, plenty of metal elements, mulberry flowers, lace and chipboard elements. I used muted pink and brown colors to create a serene feel. The little bird seems to say that though he’s free to fly he would rather stay in the peaceful atmosphere of his home.
